Rooftop Prince

An unexpected K-drama with many twists

Main Characters:
  • Lee Gak (Yoochun)
  • Park Ha (Han Ji-min)
  • Song Man Bo (Lee Minho)
  • Do Chisan (Choi Woo-shik)
  • Woo Yong Sul (Jong Suk-Won)
  • Yong Tae Moo (Lee Tae Sung)
  • Hong Se Na (Yu-mi Jeong)

One word- WOAH.

As a person that loves romantic comedies, this is fantastic and I could watch it over and over again! It took me less than two weeks to finish because I have a D.V.D of it.

So the drama is a reincarnation and time travelling type of thing. Unusual plot but you'll love it!

Okay, ready for the confusing summary?

Sneak-peek:

So the story begins in a Korean dynasty called the Joseon era which was 300 years ago. The Crown King announces that it's time for Crown Prince, Lee Gak to marry a woman.

On the other hand, Hwa Yong assists Bu Yong in getting ready to look beautiful and elegant for the prince. But while they get ready for bed, Hwa Yong trips and accidentally burns her sister's cheek with a hot poker/iron before the day she is presented to the prince. The family is devastated and disappointed in Hwa Yong so they bring her up to the prince instead of Bu Yong, due to her burnt cheek that will last forever.

While the Crown Prince and the Crown Princess cherish their happy marriage. Suddenly, the life of the Crown Princess, Hwa Yong, has ended. Found dead in a pond, possibly drowned. Lee Gak is determined to solve the mystery behind the Crown Princess' death. He needed assistance with the case, anyone useful to him that'll be part of his 'little crew'.

Crown Prince saves Yong Sul from a death sentence, he brings out Man Bo and invites Chi San to help him solve the case of the Crown Princess' death.

While they were investigating, they found a clue that is around the middle of the forest. When the group gathered in the middle, a group of assassins attacked them without any alert. The group quickly jumped on their horses and avoided the arrows that were going to harm them. They saw a cliff which meant a dead-end and found no way to escape. So they kept riding as fast as they could and tried to jump from the cliff to the other side but they couldn't. Fortunately, they all survived without a scratch... IN MODERN DAY SEOUL. They landed on Park Ha's rooftop. They find out that they are here to solve the case of the Crown Princess' death.

Modern day Seoul:

At the same time when the Hwa Yong and Bu Yong were young, Park Ha and Se Na became sisters. Se Na's mother and Park Ha's father married and started living together. It wasn't easy as they thought it would be because Se Na keeps shoplifting and blaming other's for her wrong doings. But when Se Na and Park Ha went out, Se Na had to run an errand and told Park Ha to wait in a truck. Se Na was annoyed and frustrated with Park Ha so she left her napping in the truck and threw her a milk carton to drink. Suddenly, the truck drove off. In time, Park Ha woke up and kept calling to her sister who turned back and never looked back.

Park Ha was part of an car accident and was hit in the head. She lost her memory after that. Park Ha was adopted and sent to the U.S where she lived there for sometime.

My Review

The Story: I mean like the story, OMG. It's too beautiful! The awesome parts of the story is the twists, turns, shocks and surprises! OMG. I always had my suspects on who murdered the Crown Princess, wonderings on why they landed on Park Ha's rooftop, how do they time travel back to their time and why did they land in modern day Seoul. An unusual K-Drama story line but really impressive! I liked a lot of the scenes and it always made me either shocked, smiling, laughing, angry, sad or crying. No neutral. Which is different when I watch other K-Dramas. I personally like the resemblances between the characters' time.

The Characters: Great choice of characters for that role. Except Mimi and Becky. I mean like, I kind of understand what they're supposed to do in the drama but they just disappear around the last few episodes.

The Love team: Park Ha and Lee Gak. Two words I would describe their relationship- Perfect. Romantic.
They're just too cute and perfect for each other that it makes me sad! :(

The Ending: The ending is spot on and perfect. TBH, I did cry a whole lot in the second last episode when Lee Gak vanished from the modern day world and went back to his time. I liked this scene a lot because I had enough time to cry and sniffling on the tissues. It was indeed sad.

Favourite Scene: I had many favourite scenes but my favourite one is when... (**SPOILER ALERT. READ ON AT YOUR OWN RISK**) Lee Gak and Park Ha kissed for the first time. Mm-hm, very cute and romantic. :))

Least Favourite Scene: Whenever Tae Moo or/and Se Na did something bad.

Likes: Park Ha and Lee Gak. Perfect couple and great acting. And how the makers of this series picked hot/cute guys to star in this movie. Hehe, the hottest and cutest guy I think is Man Bo. But you have to admit, Tae Moo is kind of hot as a bad guy. *^-^*

Dislikes: Tae Moo and Se Na's acting. They over act and are kind of trying hard. When they lie or something bad that they have done and they're trying to hide it, they shake which is perfectly okay to do that but they do other random gestures which makes it over acting. And their facial expressions. It annoys me. And also, too many hugs from Tae Moo and Se Na. What? No kisses? It's like they're just friends. Smooth moves Tae Moo.

My Rating: I rate this drama a 9 out of 10 stars. I want to say perfect but it's almost perfect. Just because of Se Na and Tae Moo's acting. ;P
